Belvidere Heritage is working with the American Historical Theatre in Philadelphia to bring Keith Henley to our stage as Henry Box Brown. Henry Box Brown was a Virginia Slave who was forced to work in a Virginia plantation, but when his wife and children were sold to the owner of a South Carolina plantation owner he began to devise a way to escape to freedom. The American Historical Theatre (AHT) is a 501(c)(3) organization whose Actor/Historians educate, entertain and inspire through Living History. For more than 25 years, their first person interpreters have encouraged audience members to encounter and interact with history, developing empathy and underscoring the role of choice. Victorian Days is excited to bring Henry Box Brown’s remarkable story to the festival!
